Orlando hotels have begun to offer more options for holidaymakers looking for an environmentally-friendly trip, it has been noted.

Green efforts are becoming more prominent in the area''s tourist attractions, according to the Mother Nature Network.

Reunion Resort, which is located near to Disneyworld, offers eco-friendly options such as water-saving showers, energy-efficient air conditioning and recycled materials, the news provider revealed.

And many restaurants in Orlando provide organic, locally-sourced ingredients for diners to enjoy, it added, while the theme parks have also joined in the efforts by using initiatives such as green fuels for their mobile equipment.

Several theme parks, such as Universal Studios, have joined "environmental stewardship" schemes to improve their green credentials.

Meanwhile, families looking for fun while on their Orlando holiday may wish to check out the Simpsons Ride, which has been opened at Universal Studios.

The ride, which took several years to build, features a 32-foot-tall Krusty the Clown at the entrance.
