News Article Florida ''may welcome high-speed train service''
Monday 22nd Jun 2009 at 15:48
Holidays to Orlando are often easy to arrange due to the number of cheap flights to Florida currently on the market.

But those who shun the popular package deals in order to explore the sunshine state by car may find they are in for some long journeys.

This is the point made recently in Time magazine, which said driving between Floridian cities can be "frustrating".

However, it noted that high-speed trains may soon be gracing the region, linking cities such as Miami and Tampa, thanks to money set aside by the White House for this technology.

"So many visitors to Disney World would also like to hop on high-speed rail and enjoy our beaches," Florida congresswoman Kathy Castor told Time. "I see it as a linchpin of Florida''s reinvention."

Lots of holidaymakers who book a break in Orlando choose to hire a car when they arrive, so this could be an ideal option for those heading there this summer.
