    The best of the beaches in Florida have been highlighted by a British newspaper.

    According to the Telegraph, those planning a beach-based holiday in Florida should look no further than three locations: Caladesi Island State Park to the east of Tampa, Anna Maria Beach and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.

    The first in particular was recently named as the number one beach in North America. Despite that accolade, the sandy expanses at Dunedin are rarely overcrowded, observed the newspaper.

    A trip to Anna Maria Island, just off Sarasota Bay, is necessary to enjoy the "Persil-white" sands of Anna Maria Beach, but those who cross the drawbridge on Manatee Avenue should discover a taste of old, unspoiled Florida.

    The island''s Chamber of Commerce recommends visiting between May and October, when sea turtles arrive onshore to hatch their eggs. However, holidaymakers should try not to disturb these shy creatures.

    Bill Baggs at Key Biscayne, meanwhile, is a boat trip away from Miami and offers escapism from the buzz of the city. It is the perfect place in which to add some wildlife spotting to a Florida holiday.

    Visitors taking a holiday in Florida are being advised to check out the new Stormstruck attraction at Epcot.

    The new exhibit will replicate the sights, sounds and fury of 2004''s Hurricane Charley in an attempt to educate people about home safety, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

    Using the latest technology and 3-D glasses, the show features the impact of the hurricane on two houses and how people can take steps to ensure their own homes do not face a similar fate.

    Epcot is one of a number of theme parks on offer to visitors taking a Florida holiday and is also a firm favourite with local residents living around and about Florida. Last year, Epcot welcomed nearly 11 million guests and is the sixth-most visited theme park in the world.

    A Florida holiday is not complete without a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando.

    However, with so many attractions on offer it can mean a trip with children can require some forward planning, reports the Calgary Herald. At around 110 square-kilometres, the park is one of the world''s most popular holiday destinations with some 47 million visitors each year.

    There is also evidence that many grandparents are now keen to enjoy a holiday in Florida with their children and grandchildren in tow to help discover the magic around and about Florida.

    One such family is the McKays from Calgary, who explained the attraction of a Florida holiday to Disney World, adding: "We never brought our four kids here as children, but we can now see that child in them. People are so goofy and so happy here. You just want to click your heels together."

    Florida holidays can be very enjoyable especially as the local infrastructure is aimed at helping tourists see as much as possible while in the area. In particular, the Disney buses make getting between the Walt Disney World four theme parks - the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom - simple.

    English holidaymakers can now bank in their own language following the opening of a popular high street bank in Tenerife.

    Lloyds TSB are hopeful the new bank will offer a key service for both locals and those taking a Tenerife holiday. The branch will be based in the Avendia de Brudelas on the Adeje Coast and will offer a range of services via English speaking staff.

    The branch is the first step in a new initiative by the high street bank to help target expat customers as well as offering a reliable service to anyone enjoying a holiday in Tenerife. It is planned there will be eventually four new branches opened in the Spanish region over the next 12 months.

    Gary Millar, Lloyds TSB regional director, explained: "This new branch is perfectly positioned to support the local expatriate community in the area and is one of four new offices planned to be opened by Lloyds TSB Spain this year."

    The bank currently has 27 branches in Spain, with 11 in key areas such as Majorca, Marbella and Tenerife.

    The annual Chopin Festival held in Majorca begins this month.

    First held in 1930, the Cloister of the Monastery in Valldemossa is the setting for a series of concerts honouring the work of the composer Chopin and is a popular event with those enjoying a holiday in Majorca.

    As well as piano recitals, the festival also includes the displaying of works from a number of avant-garde artists to promote the ideas of individual and collective freedom that formed the basis of much of Chopin''s pieces.

    Polish composer Chopin came to Valldemossa in 1838 with his lover George Sand. The couple believed the warm climate and sea air would help ease his Chopin''s ill health. The time he spent on holiday in Majorca is regarded as one of the musician''s most productive periods

    Meanwhile, feminist Sand wrote a novel about Majorca and its people which became a best seller. Thus every year tourists flock to the Spanish town to see the ''cell'' where the couple stayed as well as being able to see Chopin''s famous piano in situ.

    Dolphins at Florida holiday attraction SeaWorld are entertaining crowds by forever blowing bubbles.

    The intelligent bottle-nose creatures create the bubbles by forcing air through their blowholes before attempting to swim after the bubbles as they play - creating a spectacular sight. It is thought that the behaviour comes naturally to the marine mammals as part of their fun personalities.

    Pedro Ramos-Nabariete, supervisor of animal care at the Florida holiday park explained: "The dolphins are like children messing around blowing bubbles - like a child playing with a straw and a glass of cold milk."

    He added: "Sometimes if the ring is large enough they will swim through the bubble almost as if they are showing off."

    SeaWorld currently has 18 dolphins in residence ranging from just two years old to nearly 30 and they remain an ever popular attraction with tourists on holiday in Florida.

    Stretching more than 200 acres, SeaWorld is arguably one of the best things about Florida and it gives visitors the unique chance to see animals such as sea turtles, penguins and even sharks up close.

    Dutch trance DJ Tiesto is set to play a set at the Spanish club BCM as part of Cream Majorca.

    Tickets are already on sale for the DJ''s performance on September 10th following his successful top billing at the club back in July. Tiesto recently released his latest mix compilation entitled ''In Search Of Sunrise 7 – Asia''.

    Visitors to the popular Florida holiday resort this September will be able to catch a performance of the legendary Disney on Ice show.

    Starting on September 5th, anyone enjoying a holiday in Florida will be able to buy tickets for the stunning Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy. The touring show will feature a number of well-known Disney characters including Lightning McQueen, the Lion King and the Little Mermaid in a unique ice setting.

    Gossip magazine favourite Peaches Geldof has been speaking of her forthcoming relaxing holiday in Majorca over the summer.

    The daughter of Band Aid star Bob Geldof is hoping a break to the popular Majorca holiday destination will help her escape her hectic London-based party lifestyle, reports Showbiz Spy.

    "I do need to get out of London for a while to relax, clear my head and sort things out," explained Peaches.

    She added: "I''m going to Majorca to chill with my family, which is just what I need."

    The party girl has been a key figure on the British club scene in recent years but with regular reports about her socialising it could be the perfect time for the teenager to enjoy a holiday in Majorca.

    Top Dutch trance DJ Sander Van Doorn is playing a set at the popular Tenerife Tramps club this September.

    The Gatecrasher night is expected to be one of the biggest nights on the Tenerife clubbing calendar and Sander Van Doorn is topping the bill on September 11th.

    Tramps nightclub is a major attraction for those on holiday in Tenerife. Since being totally refurbished in 2000, the Playa de Las Americas club has welcomed a number of top DJs to its decks, including Judge Jules, Fergie, Tall Paul, Danny Rampling, Alex P, Brandon Block and Lisa Pin Up.

    Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay is reported to have enjoyed a fling with a Spanish model while performing in Majorca.

    The Daily Mirror claims that the singer had an encounter with Nereida Gallardo after his band played the popular Majorca holiday resort of Palma.

    A friend of the model, speaking to the newspaper, said: "It was two years ago. Nereida and another girl talked their way into the after-party and they immediately hit it off. He later took her back to his hotel suite."

    Gallardo has since been linked with a number of stars and reports suggest she recently broke up with top footballer Cristiano Ronaldo over her rather too friendly advances to Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

    Many Hollywood stars enjoy jetting off for a Majorca holiday to enjoy the local sun and sand.

    Teenagers taking a Majorca holiday this year could get the chance to take part in a Channel 4 health show.

    Embarrassing Bodies is a popular television programme that examines a whole range of unusual conditions and problems and is setting part of a new series on the Spanish island, reports the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

    The four programmes, produced by media company Maverick TV, are to focus on teenagers and will address a number of health issues that face younger people who holiday and live in the region in an attempt to encourage debate on conditions such as acne and the onset of puberty.

    One of the resort''s main beaches will be the location for a special drop-in clinic run by the show''s three presenters, Dr Christian Jessen, Dr Dawn Harper and Dr Pixie McKenna. It is hoped that teenagers on holiday in Majorca will take time out to seek professional advice from the experts.

    There will also be further follow-up treatment offered for those youngsters returning to the UK once their Majorca holiday has ended.
